The Herreshoff Legacy Project

While this page doesn't refer to the work that L Francis Herreshoff did, it is a wonderful thing that MIT has done.
They, in conjunction with the Hart Nautical Museum, have opened up to the world, electronic versions of the drawings of the Herreshoff Mfg. Co.

Wouldn't it be amazing if you could call up the drawings of the world's top yacht designers on your computer screen?

Well, in what we believe is a "world's first" event, that very thing has recently been made possible with the drawings of Capt. Nat Herreshoff's designs.

MIT's Hart Nautical Museum is now leading the world with this kind of electronic access, making the 14,000 drawings of the Herreshoff Mfg. Co. available in high resolution so that you, me, and anyone around the world having access to the web can browse, search, and zoom in to study details.

#1. NEW VIDEO

Here's a new video showing just what it took for MIT to make that happen (and while we're on the subject, be sure to visit the new Herreshoff exhibit called Lighter, Stronger, Faster at the MIT Museum in Cambridge, MA):
