The Scenic Route to Paradise.
the book launch at SoPYC on Sunday the 21st of April 2013
Attending the book launch as a fellow sailor and as a photographer, I was at once struck by the people who were attending and the variety that were there. I was assured that there were others that were missing, but I fell in love with some of the faces I met on the day and I think you will know who they are, when you see the faces.
Some 70 guests arrived and his crew rocked up to support him at the launch as well. Along with them came a good selection of the clubs H28 community and representatives from the National Trust and other bodies on the river. Trading was brisk at the signing desk and once all the guests had settled in, the speakers began and told tales of their own to embellish the tales that Jay had written of. The day went on too quickly and no sooner than the speakers finished and we had a chat with those about us, than the day began to darken and the clouds thickened outside.
I have started on the book and as an inverete reader I know already that I will enjoy this book and I note Jay's opening pages prior to the book itself, where he states; "This publication is a recollection of true events as recalled by the author. Any imperfections or errors to the facts, names or places is purely accidental."
A friend, a lawyer of considerable years, when presented with that statement laughed and said; "Never let the truth get in the road of a good story"
